OUR NAME
We are a Canadian family of Brazilian descent. Inspired by the beautiful views of the lake and mountains in White Lake, which remind us of Rio de Janeiro, we named our house after this famous music genre from Brazil. Bossa Nova emerged in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1950s and gained worldwide popularity in the 1960s due to its casual sophistication, light breeziness, and infectious rhythm. "The Girl From Ipanema" is the most popular Bossa Nova song ever recorded. Originally written in 1962 by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes, it became a worldwide hit after being recorded in 1964 by Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto, featuring vocals by Astrud Gilberto. It has since been performed by many artists, including Frank Sinatra.
